Our History

With seed money from the College of Liberal Arts, a group of CSU History and Anthropology faculty members and research associates founded the Center for Public History and Archaeology in June 2007. In June 2010 we chose our new title, Public Lands History Center, to better reflect our strengths, experience, and focus on cooperative engagement with the

National Park Service and similar entities. In just four years of operation, the PLHC has launched twenty-two projects, which have provided research opportunities for many CSU students and alumni and brought in more than $1 million in external funding.
